Summer Wedding? What do Brides really want?

It's the season of weddings, and selecting a gift that the happy couple will love and use for years to come is part of this wonderful time. Whether you are heading to several celebrations or just one special event this summer, the economy is playing a roll in what guests choose to give. Reasonably priced gifts can be made to be very personal and special.

There are two ways to go: on the registry or off. There have been some recent articles that say brides truly appreciate getting items from their registry. However, if the items listed aren't what you have in mind to give (perhaps you don't really want to give a single salad plate) or don't fit your budget there are still great ways to show the couple you wish them well.

Newly married couples especially love to see their new initials so personalized gifts are particularly meaningful.

Go ahead, purchase something from their registry (like a set of plush towels or sheet set) and then add something special (their new monogram). You know they'll appreciate that you are giving them something they want and need and you will also know that it will go with there new decor since they selected the colors. White is always a luxurious choice if you don't know their color scheme. Select the best quality your budget will allow. Think in sets: one bath, one hand, one washcloth size. You can even economize more buy purchasing a set of 3 hand towels and adding their monogram or last name initial to those.

Another inexpensive option is a set of pillowcases (if you choose not to splurge on the entire sheet set). Most sheet sets come with just one set of pillows but most people use four pillows on their bed. Again, white is an easy add-in set that will go with just about any decor. Add their new monogram on the hem and you have a special but relatively inexpensive gift.

An appreciated gift that may not be on their registry is acrylic serving ware. These pieces can be used in a multitude of ways since they are durable and clear. A simple monogrammed tray can be used as a serving tray, a catch-all on a counter, or even on the back of the commode. They are easy to care for, long lasting and will be useful at any event the couple hosts: the clear acrylic is suitable for every holiday!

Keep in mind that the price of the gift is not important, but that you've gone out of your way to think of them, wish them well and give them something personal that you hope they will cherish.
